Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in the world of pop music: she was the only celebrity to have transitioned from the traditional to the mainstream, and to become an international icon of pop culture. Swift left her country roots as though they were part of her skin, revealing she was arguably the smartest popular singer/songwriter in her generation one who could harness the mood of the moment and personalize it and equally impressively do in the opposite direction. This was evident in her first hits, particularly the Neo-Tribute Tim McGraw but her second album, 2008's Fearless featured a singer-songwriter figuring out her true identity and in the process finding the mass market. Fearless became a massive success not just in America with six singles were certified platinum on the back of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and Belong with Me. But the album also enjoyed a great reception across all over the world. Speak Now delivered almost two years later, which consolidated the success and moved Swift into the stratosphere of fame. The next three albums she released, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017), her popularity increased and she found herself in a music scene with a clear sense of where she belonged. She stayed at the top of pop until she reverted to her style with her sibling albums Folklore and Evermore in the year 2020.
