Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19th of 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a low-income family that would ultimately consist of 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life through her vivid and broad imagination. She was writing songs before she could write or read. After getting her first guitar at the age of 8, she began to play on local radio stations from Knoxville in Tennessee. In the same year, she recorded her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. As a student in high school she established herself in the local community, yet she yearned for a larger stage. After graduating the high school in 1964, she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) as well as Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. Porter Wagoner began looking for new female vocalists for his TV show syndicated by a network at about the same time. Parton became a member of Grand Ole Opry 1969 after contracting in 1969 with RCA Records. However, it wasn't until 1974 that she decided to leave Wagoner's show because the success of her individual records including Joshua Coat, Many Colors, and Jolene exceeded their collective efforts. Parton following the breakup of their relationship with Wagoner was the one to write I Will Always Love You and had it reach the top spot at No. 1 for the first time since 1974.
